Shop Small OKC // Gift Guide #5 plus GIVEAWAY

When Brandon and I first moved here from Nashville, we immediately had a sense of loss for our favorite mom-and-pop places there. They have a major, bustling presence of local pride that can be felt in all corners of the city. Being new to Oklahoma City in 2009, that felt like the biggest gap to me. How would I start to find places that felt like home?! At the time, Brandon was a college pastor, so our students pointed us in the direction of some great spots, for which we were so desperate. I think it was Kristy Jennings of t an Urban Teahouse that first introduced us to the motherload: a Keep It Local card.

Consider this your inside ticket to the best of the best in OKC. Use it for recommendations. Use it for discounts. Use it as the most perfect gift for anyone that has just moved to town.

With our Keep It Local card in hand, and the app on our phones, we soon used this as our checklist of places to consider around town. If Keep It Local approved, why not check it out?! Or so we resolved. It completely shaped our view of what was possible locally, and we've been hooked ever since. Every year they come out with a new card that costs $15, and will grant you discounts that will pay for itself very shortly. Win-win, for you and the businesses linked to Keep It Local! See more about how and why to use your Keep It Local card here.

The 2017 card *just* released, and was designed by local artist Desmond Mason. Pick one up.

As for gift guides, I'm sure you've got a kiddo or two on your list this year. Enjoy!
